Welcome to the blog that is dedicated to the graduation project, performed by Sid Vollebregt and Reinoud Feenstra for the MSc. Sustainable Energy Technology of the TU Delft.
This project included the design, construction, testing and evaluation of an innovative brackish water desalination pilot plant, driven solely by renewable energy.
Established by cooperation between the Technical University of Delft and the Insitut Teknologi Bandung, under supervision of Dr.Ir. Bas Heijman (TU Delft) and Dr.Ir. Rusnandi Garsadi (MSc, TU-Delft and ITB), it was possible to perform this research.
The start had been made in Delft, where the concept was developed and also the first experiments were performed. For a total period of 6 months the developed pilot plant was then implemented and tested at a location in the Pecatu Indah resort in the south of Bali.
In the final test period of one month, the continuously running system had produced a total of 75.000 liter potable water, under fluctuating renewable energy conditions and without the use of auxiliary power. With these results it can be said that the project has been a great success.
If you have any questions or have interest in a potential cooperation for further development of the system, please use the contact form below.
